First published in 1899, this short novel so disturbed the reading public and critics that it was banished for decades.  Now we can view Edna Pontellier's story as an early and honest depiction of a complex female character in American literature.

Join Connie Booth, a retired English teacher, as we explore Chopin's exquisite writing and now classic fiction.
