The Past and the Present Concerns of Book Banning in America
In honor of Banned Book Week, the library in collaboration with ACLU-PA is hosting a panel discussion on the history and current state of book banning in America. Our panel will include Rich Ting - Senior Staff Attorney, ACLU-PA, Katherine Locke - PA Chapter Co-President, Authors Against Banned Books, Christine Porter, Education Law Center, Matthew Good - Member, PA School Library Association Intellectual Freedom Task Group; Member, American Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom Round Table and Social Responsibilities Round Table, Edha Gupta - Student, University of Pittsburgh. The panel discussion will be moderated by Mt. Lebanon Library Director Robyn Vittek.
This event will take place after hours at the Mt. Lebanon Public Library. Refreshments will be provided.
