Monday Nov 13 – Film Noir: Bringing Darkness to Light
A documentary about what noir is, featuring interviews with writers, scholars, and film makers. EVENT OCCURED
Monday Nov 20 – Double Indemnity
1944, Directed by Billy Wilder, starring Barbara Stanwyk, Fred MacMurray, Edward G. Robinson. The story of a housewife who is accused of killing her husband, the insurance salesman who helps her, and a claims adjuster who tries to work out what happened. A noir classic. EVENT OCCURED
Monday Nov 27 – The Lady in the Lake
1947, Directed by, and starring Robert Montgomery. Filmed in a first-person style. An adaptation of Raymond Chandler’s 1943 book about hard-boiled LA private detective Philip Marlowe, and set a few days before Christmas.
