This time around the Billy Wilder classics SUNSET BLVD (1950) gets the "What's So Great About..." treatment!
An aging silent movie queen (played magically by Gloria Swanson) refuses to realize her stardom has come to an end when a down on his luck screen writer (played expertly by William Holden) collides into her life.

SUNSET BLVD is certainly noir-adjacent, so we are counting this as a bonus film for our Noir-vember film fest!

Join us for this brilliant piece of Hollywood history, seen in a new way, with some extra information on this favorite from Elaine Wertheim.

"What's so great about..." is an occasional series where Elaine Wertheim screens films that might be considered classics, but stops to point out WHY they are considered so. Look at some of your favorite cinema in a whole new way!

Elaine Wertheim has been teaching about art and film for over 20 years.

Presented in partnership with the Denis Theater.
