Glenn Flickinger and Bill Dedig present stories of real “Masters of the Air” from the archives of the Veterans Breakfast Club. Featured stories and airplanes include:

  • Bob Buckler, B-17 tailgunner who ditched in Sweden on his 22nd mission in 1943.
  • John “Lucky” Luckadoo, B-17 pilot with the Bloody Hundredth Bomb Group who survived 25 missions.
  • Hollywood star Jimmy Stewart, who commanded the 703d Bomb Squadron of B-24s and flew 20 combat missions. 
  • Home builder Ed Ryan, who miraculously survived a shutdown over Vienna in October 1944 and became a hospitalized POW.
  • Ed Cottrell, who flew 65 missions as a  P-47 pilot.
  • Joe Peterburs, P-51 pilot who shot down a ME-262 German jet before being shot down and taken prisoner. He later escaped.
