Each year we embrace the Icelandic Jolabokaflod custom. On Christmas Eve in Iceland, it is a long-standing tradition for people to give and receive books as it is the time of year when the publishing market floods bookstores with new releases. After receiving their Christmas books Icelanders spend the rest of the night cozily curled up with a cup of cocoa and their new book. Mt Lebanon Library loves this charming custom, so we named our holiday festival after it: Jolabokaflod, which translates to "Christmas Book Flood.”

Join us for the Library's 6th annual Holiday Market! Artist vendors will be outside. Room A will be the Friends book sale and in Room B is the warming room with hot beverages and cookies.

The Library's annual Holiday Market and Friends of the Library Book Sale. Book sale features many gift-worthy items.  Local Artists booths outside include jewelry, prints, upcycled art, soap, goods form Wonderfill Store, paper art, cards, pottery, candles and more. Our community partner, Southminster Church's handbell choir will fill the air with the sounds of the season!  Inside there will be storytelling for families, children, and adults, hands-on craft activities for children and teens, and the Klezmer fusion band Klezlectic (1 to 2 p.m.). Cookies and hot beverages too!
