Event Details

Dare 2B Tick Aware Program was originally created with a CDC Preventative Health Block Grant via the PA Department of Health. The goal is to improve the use of prevention strategies, reduce tick bites, and improve early diagnosis. This program uses the most current research available and standardizes prevention messages across the state. The program is typically 45 minutes – 1 hour, + time for Q & A.

Program content includes:
PA Stats
Tick i.d.
Tick habitat
Tick behavior
Lyme and tick-borne diseases
Prevention options
Acting if bitten by a tick
Recognizing early symptoms

**Reminder - The Dare 2B Tick Aware presentation is a seminar about tick i.d, tick behavior, tick habitat, tick removal and tick bite prevention options. While there are a few slides regarding Lyme disease and other tick-borne infection symptoms, this is not a Lyme disease seminar and facilitators do not discuss diagnosis, testing or treatment.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Janine Hauck - Janine was an avid outdoors person, gardener, and dancer until she contracted Lyme Disease in 2019.  She is now in her fourth year of trying to recover and longs for the day when she can be as active and fit as she once was. Hardly a day goes by that she does not think about ticks. Janine has spent a lot of time learning about ticks and tick-borne illnesses. One of the things she learned is there are a lot of misconceptions out there regarding ticks and Lyme disease. She decided getting certificated by PA Lyme to go out and talk about ticks, their habitat and prevention would be a good thing to do.
