Join the University of Pittsburgh’s Asian Studies Center for an AANHPI Heritage Month kickoff featuring Anna May Wong!
At this event we will discuss Daughter of the Dragon by Yunte Huang, a book which explores Asian Americans in Hollywood through life of Hollywood star Anna May Wong. The multi-talented actress broke barriers in the Hollywood scene but also faced immense challenges including anti-Chinese sentiments. Huang's book speaks to the ideas of Asian American and Chinese identities in the US as well as the challenges Chinese Americans faced in the 20th century.
